The church of St. Peter & St. Leonard in Horbury is one of the finest examples of an 18th century church building in Yorkshire. Built to the design of Horbury architect John Carr between 1790 and 1794, and given as a gift to the people of Horbury, the church has been treasured as one of Horbury's finest 18th century buildings.
During 2007, the church played host to a special exhibition on John Carr which saw an overwhelming response by interested members of the public attending and visiting the church. With an active church community and the support of the people of Horbury, the church continues to be an important part of Horbury's rich heritage.
